Celebrating Pakistan Day: A Day of Resolutions and National Pride

Every year on March 23rd, Pakistan comes alive with the vibrant colors and festivities of Pakistan Day, also known as Resolution Day and Republic Day. This national holiday holds a special place in the hearts of Pakistanis, commemorating two significant events in the country’s history:

  • The Lahore Resolution (1940): 

    On this day in 1940, the All-India Muslim League passed the Lahore Resolution, demanding a separate homeland for the Muslims of British India. This resolution laid the groundwork for the creation of Pakistan.
  • Adoption of the First Constitution (1956): 

    Sixteen years later, on March 23rd, 1956, Pakistan adopted its first constitution, transitioning from a Dominion to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
